He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur L. Barnard and Esther R. Barnard (Waltermier); and his son Kyle David Barnard. He is survived by: his spouse Cescily Ann Arrick; and his children, Abigail Shearer (Brenden), Ashlee Forkner, Tiffany Barnard, Brittany Barnard, Anthony Barnard, Gabrielle McDowell and Zach McDowell.
