He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Bartgen Sr. and Violet Cerney Bartgen; and his siblings, Patricia Fuka, Raymond Bartgen Jr. and Richard Bartgen.

He is survived by: his sister Judith Schuler of Carlsbad. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
