Ernest R. Brewer Obituary
KNOX – Ernest Ray Brewer of Knox passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Northwest Health, Starke Hospital. He was born on January 31, 1961 in Knox to Elijah and Irene (Lovins) Brewer and was 63 years-old at the time of his death.
Ernie lived in the area his entire life and previously worked as a Laborer before his health got the best of him. On August 31, 1989 in Knox, he married the love of his life Laura (Lovely). He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Knox Post #131 and the Knox VFW Post #748 Auxiliary. Many would remember him being the "board-man" for the Wednesday night "critter races" and working the BINGO games. Ernie was also a member of Starke County ABATE and was a huge supporter of the Toys for Kids drive, as well as being an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast. Ernie also loved playing the daily games on WKVI and really enjoyed making models. Most of all he cherished his family dearly and gained his most enjoyment by hanging out with friends at the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Laura of Knox; three children Arlan (Janet) Greer, Caleb Greer of Bremen, and Kaleigh Greer of Knox; nine grandchildren Emily, Courtney, Erin, Skylar-Ann, Michael, Ashlynn, Lily-Ann, Annika, and Quinton; four step grandchildren Jason, Alyssa, Aaron, and Lyla; his mother Irene Brewer of Knox; two brothers Eugene Brewer and Bobbie (Debbie) Brewer all of Knox; and two sisters Rosemary (Jeff) Reed of Knox and Diana (Curt) Clabough of Knox. He is preceded in death by his father; two children Jeremiah and Tonya; one brother Roger; and one sister Mabel Nitcher.
Visiting hours will be from 11:00 to 1:00 CDT Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 CDT also on Saturday, May 4 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Knox. In lieu of flowers the family requests. Memorial Contributions be made to Rannells Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
