He was predeceased by: his parents, James Merchant and Iva Williams (Roland); his wife Evelyn Merchant; his grandchildren, Scott A. Reece and Jama Jordan; and his brothers, Paul, Charles and Richard Merchant.

He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Jordan (Jim) of Anderson and Jeannie Keith of Ft. Myers; his grandson Kyle Jordan; and his great grandchild Tyler Jordan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
