He was predeceased by: his parents, George William "Bill" and Mary Mona Phillips (Rush); his former wife Margaret Hupp (Futrell); his brothers, Francis Phillips, Randall Phillips and Merrill Phillips; and his great grandchild Aiden Griffin.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Collette; his children, David Phillips (Deborah), Pam Milner (Jeff), Donald Phillips, Robin Downing (Stan), Leesa Fansler (Mike) and Elaine Wimmer (Kevin); his stepsons, Gene Jacks and Kevin Jacks; and his friends, Water St, Church and Josiah of White's Spiritual Life Fund. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Robert to Indiana Yearly Meeting, designated Robert Phillips Endowment.
