He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gavin and Delores Gavin. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca "Becky" Gavin; his children, Sara Copeland (Christopher) and Chris Gavin (Jessica); his siblings, Laura Pfund (Billy), Deborah West (Gary), Tommy Gavin (Carmella) and Bob Gavin (Tracey); and his grandchildren, Tonya Williams, Kaelyn Gavin, Mason Copeland and Maxwell Copeland. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel (921 Main St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
