He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bateman and Ruth Bateman (Jamison); his wife Martha Burris; his son Jeffrey Gonzales; and his grandchildren, Megan Gonzales and Ariel Bateman.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Parker of Richmond, VA, Dayna Bender (Josh), Miranda Moyer (Randy), Tracy Bateman (Stacy) of Hawesville, KY and Jonathan Bateman (Julia); and his siblings, Ronnie Bateman and Shirley Hardesty. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
