He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Schroering and Frances Schroering (Seger); his spouses, Virlee Hostetter and Preceding; his brothers, Norbert, Ed, Martin and Jerome Schroering; his half-brothers, Cornelius Schroering and Sylvester Humbert; and his sisters, Alice Schroering and Florence Schroering.

He is survived by: his children, Steve Schroering of Jasper, IN, Ken Schroering (Donna) of Evansville, IN, Karen Schroering of Jasper, IN, Joyce Gore (Mike) of Jasper, IN and Julie Maudlin (Steve) of Salem, IN; his grandchildren, Courtney Foster, Jared Schroering, Zachary, Craig, Stephany Gore, Janelle Holden, Nathan and Andrew Maudlin; and his siblings, Elfrieda Merkley of Ireland, IN, Rosie Rivers (Roger) of California, Lucy Alcorn (Tom) of Florida and Ray Schroering (Jan) of Wichita, KS.. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
