He is survived by: his wife Sasha Slater (Mills) of Jasonville; his children, Cara Orman (Shannon) of Vicksburg, Melissa Slater of Jasonville, Jim "Mooch" Slater of Jasonville and Matthew Slater of Jasonville; his grandchildren, Steven Brady, Derick Slater, Derrick Orman, Chase Orman, Adam Slater and Holden Slater; his great grandchild Kayson Stevenson; and his siblings, Rosie Dickey of Jasonville, Connie Wools of Linton and Tina Chandler of Linton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
