He was predeceased by: his parent Barbara Ann Hieston (Lynch). He is survived by: his father Doyel L. Hieston of Jamestown; his son George "Afton" Hieston, III of Jamestown; and his siblings, Jay Hieston (Lisa) of Jamestown Ray, Lee Ann Sanders (Gary) of Elizaville Marijane and Miller of Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association; 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
