He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton E. Pierson and Ruth E. Pierson (McFadden); his wife Ginny Pierson (Whittington); and his stepsons, James A. "Jim" Long and G. Philip Long.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas G. Pierson of Beech Grove, Linda K. Dreibelbis (William) of Beech Grove and Sandra L. Martin (Bryan) of Fairland; his stepchildren, Shirley Smith, Marilyn Radcliff, John Long (Cindy) and Jennifer Inman (Brian); his stepdaughters-in-law, Marilyn Long and Candy Long; and his siblings, Clinton T. Pierson of Indianapolis and Agnes M. Bigelow of Fairland. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 23 great great-grandchildren.
