She was predeceased by: her parents, Abner Walton and Grace Mae Hopton (DeBurger); her husband Marion Clair "Smokey" Burgess; her brothers, Ronald Hopton (Ronnie) and William Hopton (Bill); and her son-in-law Mark Christian Mathis.
She is survived by: her daughter Kathleen Joyce Mathis. She is also survived by nieces and a nephew and long-time friends.
