Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Nancy Shaw (Indianapolis, Indiana), born in Long Branch, New Jersey, who passed away at the age of 79, on July 31, 2022. She was predeceased by: her parents, Julia Etta and Charles Williams Hockett; and her siblings, Charles Jr., Kenneth Leonard and Shirley Kitt.
She is survived by: her daughter Kelly; her grandson Andrew Brown; and her siblings, Julia Roseberry, Delores Dorsey (James), Richard and Edmond Hockett. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Nancy has been recognized for her contribution to the Indianapolis Community and Jarvis: Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism by the United Way of Greater Indianapolis, recognition by the National Council of Christians and Jews, Phyllis Wheatley Outstanding Woman of the Year by the YWCA, Pioneer Hall of Fame inductee, and Fred Hearns Award for Excellence at Jarvis Christian College.
