He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Christopher Ellis and Fannie Anne Haywood Ellis; his wife Greta; and his siblings, Frances Ellis, Robert Ellis, Ida Cooper and Hilda Rolle.
He is survived by: his former spouse Gretta June Bridgforth; his sons, Romney Christopher Ellis of Indianapolis and Samuel Blair Ellis of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren, Robert Christopher Ellis of Hawaii and Macaila L. Martin of Lafayette. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
