He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Sr. McCleerey and Alma McCleerey; and his sisters, Martha Irene Burkert (Paul) and Clara Jane Jones. He is survived by: his sister Sandy Pickett (Bob); and his children, Shannon McCleerey-Clark, Holly McCleerey, Jeffrey McCleerey and Michael McCleerey (Diane).

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home (1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143). A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to an organization supporting Multiple Sclerosis research.

Chris Datte wrote a sympathy message

“Uncle Buddy was the best. I have memories of him even when I was a small child. He had the best laugh! He had enough patience to teach me how to play Euchre which was a really big deal! He also taught me to watch out for my brothers cheating! He lived a lot of years with MS and can now be in heaven with the part of the family waiting for him there. Love and prayers to those who loved him and helped care for him here. He will be missed.”
