She was predeceased by: her parents, George Jefferson Sr. and Georgia Mae Knox-Jefferson (Spann); her brother George Jefferson Jr.; and her children, William Harrison Downing Jr., Charles Downing, Vera Mae Bronaugh and Janet Kay Downing-McGowan.
She is survived by: her husband William Harrison Downing Sr. of Glasgow; her sisters, Juanita Viers and Ola Gamble Quarles of Indianapolis, Indiana; her children, Richard of Indianapolis, Steve Downing (Doris) of Indianapolis, Maggie Pat Robinson, Anita Downing-Overton, Karen Sharp (Eric), Joyce Downing-Harris (Carl), Lonnie of Washington, Irvin Brimmage and Margo Dawson; and her close friend Ted Hurt of Indianapolis, Indiana.. She is also survived by 10 children were born four sons and six daughters.
