He was predeceased by: his father Frank Wurger. He is survived by: his daughter Carin Wurger Nigrelli; his son-in-law Joseph D Nigrelli; his grandchildren, Joseph A, Vincent F and Maria E Nigrelli; and his aunt Florence Walters.

“I am so very sad. Bernie was a dear friend. I first met him in 1967 (when I was six years old) at Brunswick Music Theatre. Over the years I grew to greatly respect him as an actor. In 1978 I decided to attend Butler University in Indianapolis in order to study with him. In my junior year, I took Bernie's musical theatre class. After my first performance, he looked at me and smiled and said, "what do you mean you can't sing!" This was one of my life's highlights. Rest well, Bernie. Judith Geer”
