He was predeceased by: his parents, Estill Hughes and Bessie Hughes (Marsalett); and his siblings, Oliver B. Hughes, Elmer Hughes, Doris Conley and Ula Hurd.
He is survived by: his significant other Judy Frederick of Huntington, Indiana; his sons, Lonnie Hughes, Richard Dwayne Hughes, David Allen Hughes (Rosalie) and North Webster; his siblings, William Hughes (Judy), Glen E. Hughes (Linda), Betty Collins (Lowell), Winona Lake, Brinda L. Bocook, Linda L. Evans (Neil) and Silver Lake; and his grandchildren, Travis Hughes, Justin Hughes and Shalena Rude. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
