He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Rethlake and Mildred Rethlake (Metzinger); and his brother John "Jack" Rethlake. He is survived by: his children, Troy Rethlake (Melinda) of Huntington, IN, Rod, Jodi Benson (Brady) of Huntington, IN and Traci Arnold (Mike) of Andrews, IN; his brothers, Tom Rethlake (Jeanne) of Columbia City, IN and Tim Rethlake (Justine); and his grandchildren, Ashley Simon (Derek), Erin Ehler (Paul), Emily Rethlake, Lauren Rethlake, Andrew Rethlake (Carrington), Adam Brinneman, Brook Brinneman, Celsey Brinneman, A. J. Benson, Kendra Arnold, Katelynn Arnold, Zach Smolinske (Sierra) and Cody Smolinske (Kennedy). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
