He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Buchanan and Nora Frances Cochran Buchanan; and his siblings, Harry Buchanan, Jr., Charles Buchanan and Mary Schafer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Mack Buchanan of Hope, Indiana; his children, Leah Buchanan Reddick of Madison, Penny Buchanan Lazaro (Alan) of Vinal Haven, Maine and Johnny Buchanan of Hope, Indiana; his grandchildren, Brittany, Bianca, Corey, Joseph, Donovan, Amanda, Blake, Bridgett and Bradley; his great grandchildren, Abigail, Camilla, Alana, Brooklyn, Elijah, Joseph, Trinity, Serenity, Emily and Aydon; and his siblings, William "Bill" Buchanan of Madison, Indiana, Elizabeth Young of Madison and Gladys Evans of Evansville, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
