He was predeceased by: his parents, Devon Daniel and Marjorie May Tibbitts Deaton; and his wife Eleanor E. Shively. He is survived by: his daughters, Angela Wilkinson (Andrew) of Trafalgar, Andrea Hammond (Don) of Springfield and Anita Watkins (Scott) of Columbus; his friend Carolyn Richards of Columbus; his grandchildren, Melissa Stam of Columbus, Diana Imlay (Joshua) of Indianapolis, Hannah Hammond of Troy, Lee Hammond (Katelynn) of Springfield, Evan Watkins of Columbus and Emma Watkins of Columbus; his great grandchildren, Eleanor Geneva Carie, Charlotte Carie, Sophia Hammond and Paisley Hammond; his stepgrandchildren, Rachel Thomas (Jordan) of Carmel, Caitlin Wilkinson of Indianapolis and Matthew Wilkinson of San Diego, California; his stepgreat-grandson David Thomas; and his sister Waneta Bishop (Bob) of Leesburg, Indiana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
