He is survived by: his children, Teresa Whittington of Hope and Tony Whittington of Hope; his close friend Lola Hileman; his grandchildren, Nikki Whittington and Michelle Mercer (John) of North Carolina; his great grandchildren, Rachelle, Abraxas, Xavier, Cameron, Matthew, John Jr. and Neveah; and his siblings, Richard Whittington of Hope, Mike Whittington of Hope and Mary Mings of Hope. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
