He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Grider and Helen Nadine Hagan Grider; and his brothers, Eddie Grider and Jimmy Grider. He is survived by: his children, Drew Grider of North Carolina, Danny Grider Jr. of Indianapolis and Harmonie Grider of Salem, Indiana; and his siblings, Patsy Bennett of Columbus, Brenda Thomas of La Vergne, Sandra Thompson (David) of Hope and Jerry Grider (Monica) of Columbus, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
