He is survived by: his parents, James Charles Sams III and Elizabeth Caldwell Sams of Wheatfield, IN; his sister Carolyn Elizabeth Sams; his pet Ginger Sams; his grandparents, Richard G., Carol Caldwell of Lake Forest, IL, James C. and Doris Sams of Collierville, TN; his uncle David; his aunt Debby; his cousin Ryan Caldwell of Kenilworth, IL; his uncle Chris; his aunt Amy; his cousins, Elizabeth and Christian Flood of Collierville, TN; and his aunt Lynn Caldwell of Spring Hill, TN..

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the to the Kankakee Valley Educational Foundation, PO Box 278, Wheatfield, IN 46392 in Jonathan Sams's memory. These donations are tax deductible and will be specifically applied to help furnish the KVHS weightlifting gym, as this was a place where Jonathan grew both in strength and confidence during his life.
