He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Scherer and Evelyn Scherer (Amann); his sisters, Shirley Vescovi (Bob) and Connie Kaveny (Rich); and his father-in-law Phil Kaletta.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Scherer; his son Scott (Carrie); his grandchildren, Alex and Kelsey; his mother-in-law Dorothy Kaletta; and his sisters-in-law, Joyce Boynak (Greg) and Dana Alexander (Jim). He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and special friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the wounded warrior project in lieu of flowers.
