He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph, Sr. Hecht and Agnes Hecht; his wife June; his siblings, Norbert Hecht, Arthur Hecht (Donna), Lawrence Hecht (Geri), Elaine Baker (George) and Sylvia Lowry (Robert); and his nephews, Timothy Hecht and Bob Lowry.
