He was predeceased by: his wife Linda; and his siblings, Homer Dye, Wesley Dye (Helen), Edward Dye (Mildred), Glennen Dye (Wilma) and Bertha Kennedy (Lynn).

He is survived by: his children, Johnny C. Dye Jr. and Paula Dye; his grandchildren, Jacqueline Dye, Kylie Dye and Sarah Choate; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Dye. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
