He was predeceased by: his siblings, Robert Thyen, Edward Thyen (Jeanne), Eva Boessel (Ray) and Anita Howard; and his son-in-law Kenneth Vega.
He is survived by: his wife Joan M. Thyen; his children, Mark S. Thyen (Stephanie) of Chesterton, IN, Angela M. Moench (Gene) of Boone Grove, IN and Christine A. Vega of Crown Point, IN; his sister Jane Krause (James) of Hobart, IN; and his sister-in-law Rosemary Thyen of Hobart, IN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
