He was predeceased by: his parents, David Johnston and Patricia Johnston (Yucus); and his brothers, David, Chuck and Robert Johnston.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon of Hobart; his sons, James Thomas Johnston, Jr. (Heather) of Hobart and Robert Johnston (Kristine) of Granger; his grandchildren, Riley Johnston, Cody Johnston, Lindsay Rozman (Jack), Alyssa Mentz (Matt) and Kyle Johnston; his great grandchildren, Zeke Johnston, Zane Evans and Charlee Mentz; and his sisters, Alice Lavery of Grapevine, TX and Florence Belashky (Fred) of St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
