She was predeceased by: her parents, Zuzanna Mertel (Cermak) and Michael Mertel; and her siblings, Michael Mertel, John Mertel, Milan Mertel and Anna Lesky (Ted).

She is survived by: her daughters, Dorothy A. Pakan, Susan Brown (Gary) and Sharon Cholewa (Steve); her grandchildren, Christopher Brown and Emily Brown; and her husband Edward (Martin Luther Church).
