He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman O. Ackerman and Marie Ackerman (Bohlen); his sister Marlene Talbott; and his son-in-law Mitchell Petty. He is survived by: his daughters, Meredith Petty of Evansville, IN and Melanie Hemmer (Aaron) of Reno, NV; and his grandchildren, Blake, Hannah, Evan, Isaac, Jackson and Brendon.

Memorials in Marvin's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
