He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Steckler and Josephine Steckler (Angermeier); his son Richard Steckler; and his siblings, Ed, Oscar, Louis, Gilbert Steckler, Esther Gries, Sr., Mary Esther Steckler, Irma Bender, Mary Seib, Marge Ramsey, Viola Scheller, Betty Lefler and Joan Hinton-Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Arliene; his children, Keith (Dodie) of Haubstadt, Jeff (Jackie) of Haubstadt, Tim of Haubstadt, Pam Steckler of Evansville and Carol Karmire (Conon) of Evansville; his grandchildren, Wendy Dollarhide, Terry, Jeremy and Eric Steckler; and his siblings, Patricia Jackson, Harold Steckler (Laurie), Donald Steckler (Betty) and Kathy Ising. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church or Gibault School of Terre Haute, IN.
