He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester S. Penrod and Dorothy M. Penrod (Fetty); his wife G. Joyce Penrod (Martindale); and his sister Virginia Bell. He is survived by: his children, Terry A. Shaffer of Hartford City and Ralph E. Penrod Jr. (Debbie) of Hartford City; his grandchildren, Stacey Headlee (Jeff), Jodie Gearheart (Shane), Corey Shaffer (Heather), Creg Penrod (Tara), Cyle Penrod (Keli) and Jason Whitehurst (Julie); and his great grandchildren, Hunter Tobey, Jacob Tobey, Maleah Marker, Katrina Gomez, Kamryn Shaffer, Nicholas Shaffer, Collin Penrod, Lucas Penrod, Codey Penrod, Kyli Penrod, Alexis Whitehurst and Olivia Whitehurst. He is also survived by great-great-grandchildren.
