He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Leslie Leeth and Olive Loretta Leeth (Coil); and his siblings, Gerald Leeth, Frieda Ellis-Noble and Janice Strayer.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Patti" A. Leeth (Knedler) of Hartford City; and his children, Elizabeth "Beth" A. Leeth of Chicago and Dr. Joseph Jay Leeth (Jane H.) of Shelbyville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Elden's contribution to his thousands of students and players he mentored was to help them become better people.
