He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edgar Yates and Letha L. Yates (Hill); his wife Sara Sue Yates (Kelly); and his siblings, Billy Fuller, Kathryn Hawkins, Jack Yates (Roberta) and Sonny "Berlin" Yates.
He is survived by: his sons, Charles W. "Rowdy" Miller-Yates II (George) of Southside and Joshua K. Yates (Tiffany) of Hartford City; his grandchildren, Lilly Yates, Gabby Yates and Nash Yates; his great grandchild Naomi Sue Hahn; and his siblings, Larry Yates (Marry), Jearl Yates, Jim Yates (Pam), Rick Yates (Terri), Sheila Pittman (Kenneth) and Sharon Eversoll.
