He was predeceased by: his wife Rebecca "Beckey" Abbott Riley; his father Elbert Ellis Riley; and his father-in-law Norman O. Abbott, Sr.. He is survived by: his son David Riley (T. J.) of Hanover, Indiana; his mother Joyce Breeden Riley of Seymour, Indiana; his mother-in-law Mickey Abbott of Hanover, Indiana; his brothers, Ellis Riley (Tammy Robinson) of Scottsburg and Henry "Hank" Riley (Samantha) of Seymour, Indiana; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Davis of Louisville, Kentucky and Norman O. Abbott, Jr. (Peggy) of Radcliff, Kentucky. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
