He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Allen and Annie Allen (Webb); and his sister Carolyn Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Allen (Hardin); his sons, Derek J. Allen (Megan) of Union Mills, Darren J. Allen (Naoka) of Highland Park and Daniel J. Allen (Jessica) of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.; and his grandchildren, Evan, Caitlin, Lui, Desmond and Malcolm.
