He was predeceased by: his parents, John Spear and Mary Spear; and his siblings, Vincent Spear, John Spear (Mary), Kathryn Mackie (John), Michael Spear (Dorothy), Rose Kaytar (Andrew), Mary Bogucki (Thomas), Frank Spear, Ann Smith (Victor) and Eva Helen Harlan (Charles).

He is survived by: his siblings, Denice Oliver (late Keith) and Ronald Spear (Mary); his children, Beth Marie Hedrick (Robert), Robert Spear (Mary Beth) and Steven Spear; and his grandchildren, Samantha Dover, Robert Hedrick and Robert Spear (Anjelle). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer Association.
