He was predeceased by: his wife Wanda June Pitts; his parents, John K. Pitts and Pearlie Pitts Ratliff; his brother Bill J. Pitts; and his son-in-law Robert L. "Bob" Robbins.
He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Lee Pitts (Deborah), Maria Diane Makarewich (Michael) and Gloria June Robbins. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
