He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis; his parents, Charles "Ross" Hemphill and Mildred Thilmont; his stepfather Raymond Thilmont; and his siblings, John Hemphill (Donna), Robert Hemphill (Janice) and Betty Jean Hemphill.
He is survived by: his children, Yvonne Sharp (Jim), Charles Hemphill (late Jennifer), Ronald Hemphill (Jennifer) and Brian Hemphill; his grandsons, David Bisbee, Jeff Bisbee and Andrew Hemphill; and his brothers, Norman Hemphill (Linda), Raymond Thilmont (Laura) and Billy Thilmont (late Juanita). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
