He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Beem and Ellen Beem (Barnett); and his siblings, Delbert "Pete" Beem Jr., Earl Beem and Glenda Bower.

He is survived by: his wife Theresa Beem of Knox; his children, Jay Beem Jr. (Abigail) of Ft. Wayne and Jillean Curiel of California; his grandchildren, Zoey Curiel and Morgan Curiel; and his brother Homer Beem (Anna).
