He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxine Grace Thrasher (Williams) and Lloyd Lee Shaffer; his stepfather Pat Thrasher; and his brothers, Robert and Roger Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Lori (Vogel); his children, Josh Shaffer (Jenn), Abby Atteberry (Erik), Ashley Childers (Chris) and Jake Shaffer (Chelsey); his siblings, Donna Jean Aldrich, Sue Carnahan (Dick) and Denny Thrasher (Susie); his sister-in-law Marcia Shaffer; his mother-in-law Shirley Vogel; his grandchildren, Gavin, Grace, Summer, Autumn, Grier, Ainsley, Adam, Cora and Maisey; and his pet Baxter.
