He was predeceased by: his wife Sylvia Ann Hoover (Helms); and his parents, Forrest Hoover and Betty Hoover. He is survived by: his sister Joy Curless (Lew); his children, Ronald S. Hoover (Zsani), Erica Hoover Smith (Craig) and Heather Kogge (John); his grandchildren, Kate Pointis (Michael), Evan Hoover, Anna Hoover, Malory Owen (Nick) and Jesse Kogge; his great grandchild Gavin Pointis; his niece Lisa Ford (Steve); and his nephew Marc Curless (Melanie). He is also survived by his five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial donations can be made to the Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren.
