He was predeceased by: his son Jeffery Schmeltzer; his brothers, Ralph Schmeltzer and Donald Schmeltzer; and his parents, George Schmeltzer and Mary Gladys Morling Schmeltzer.

He is survived by: his wife Barb Beiting Schmeltzer; his children, George Schmeltzer (Charity), Chuck Schmeltzer (Kathy), Susie Orndorff (Jason), Lisa Hempfling (Mike), Theresa Meadows (Kevin), Jennifer Schmeltzer and June Brackett (Tom); his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jess, Rocky, Andi, Josh, Sydney, Autumn, Sebastian, Chloe, Desiree and Tyler; his great grandchildren, Julian, Benny, Tatum, Emmy, Kiley, Julia, Ty, Samantha and Lincoln; and his siblings, Ruth Grubbs, Dale Schmeltzer, Janet Ross and Linda Miller.
