He was predeceased by: his sister Luann. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Deffenbaugh; his sons, Dan Deffenbaugh (Monica) and Nick Deffenbaugh; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Katriona and Rowan; and his sister Pauline Garney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Griffith Animal Shelter.
