He was predeceased by: his father Jerome A. Braet; his sister Diana Yerington (Leo); and his stepdaughter Alicia Strisko. He is survived by: his mother Joan Braet (Crossman); his wife Edie; his stepdaughter Desiree Baker of Griffith, IN; his stepgrandsons, Lucas Baker, TJ, Daniel and Andy Strisko; his stepgreat-grandson Dakota; and his children, Joan Braet of East Moline, IL, Deb Erickson (Ryan), Don (Teresa), Andrew (Jackie) and Wendy Kerker (Anthony). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
