He was predeceased by: his parents, Gentral G. Pope and Lillie Pope Payne Lee; and his brothers, Robert Pope, Gilbert Pope, Fred Pope and Melvin Michael Payne.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rhonda Lynette Pope-Aikens, Marita Annette Pope and Soné (Keith Redmon); his siblings, Daisy Marlene Bullard, Shirley Payne, Virda Lee, Judy Hobbs (Larry), Gentral T. Pope (Clothies), Sylvester Pope, David Payne, Jr., Herbert Payne and Robert Lee; and his sister-in-law Pamela Pope. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
