He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Mills and Martha Mills of Munster, Indiana; his brother Earnest Mills of Salem, Indiana; and his sisters-in-law, Rose Mills of Cole City, Illinois and Sue Mills of Roan Mt.

He is survived by: his son Daniel Mills, Jr. (Kelley); his granddaughters, Claudia, Sadie and Jovie of Griffith, Indiana; his sons, David Mills, Doug Mills and Darren Mills of Griffith, Indiana; and his siblings, Marcha Dills (Bill) of Wheatfield, Kennedy (Robert) of Dear Park, Texas, Jim Mills of Roan Mt, Bob Mills of Knoxville, Larry Mills of Altamonte, Chuck Mills of Wheatfield and Dale Mills (Kathy) of Ft Myers, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Crown Point Christian Village or Dunes Hospice.
