He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin McCarter and Ollie McCarter (Leath); his spouse Shirley F. Binnion; his daughter Marcia L. Ayers; his siblings, Roy McCarter, Peggy Harris and Patsy Brown; his son-in-law Stanley Rowland; and his grandchildren, Terry Clingerman, II and Samantha A. Ayers.
He is survived by: his children, Renita Rowland of Marion, Connie Hall (Terry) of Delphi, Bonnie Hurst (Chuck) of West Lafayette, Anthony "Tony" McCarter of Anderson and David McCarter (Lauren) of Pahrump, NV; his siblings, Linda Ross and Tommy McCarter; and his great grandchildren, Xzavier Rowland and William Rowland. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
