He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Doerflinger and Vivian Doerflinger (Stout); and his brother James Doerflinger (Sheila). He is survived by: his wife Carol Doerflinger (Siefker); his daughters, Sonya Doerflinger of Greensburg, Barbara Fagan (John) of Indianapolis and Ann Hathaway (David) of Brownsburg; his stepdaughter Barbara Jacobs (Derek); his grandchildren, Mark Moriarity (Emily), Joseph Moriarity (Emily), Ellen Moriarity, Gail Moriarity, Scott Hathaway, Kyle Hathaway, Claire Hathaway and Cara Jacobs; and his great grandchildren, Lucille Moriarity and Theodore Hathaway. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
